AS A SPORTING COMMUNITY, WE HAVE REPEATEDLY SHOWN THAT WE HAVE OPEN HEARTS
“Our real support was the donation of 19.47% of ticket revenues to foundations helping Ukraine. There was some symbolism behind it: 1947 is the year when Śląsk Wrocław was founded. In total, we managed to donate more than PLN 40,000 to two foundations. This was important for Wrocław fans, because many of the inhabitants of Wrocław have Lviv roots,” says Jędrzej Rybak.
The club's players and fans were also involved in the activities of the “Youth for Wrocław” foundation and supported the organisation of aid at Wrocław's railway station.
“Young people training with our club acted as volunteers at the railway station, where the Wrocław Centre for Social Development distributed aid packages to people who had fled the war. In the first weeks after 24 February, crowds of people were arriving at the railway station, and we had to organise everything, keep everything clean and make sure everyone was helped, because many of these people were simply ashamed to even ask for tea. At that time, a group of 67 players from Kiev were in Wrocław. The outbreak of war found them in Poland – far from home, without parents, under the care of coaches. The entire local sports community was heavily involved in helping these kids and giving them at least a semblance of normality.”
